Famous Hollywood Costumes Part Two

Green felt coat with mink-trim capelet and hat worn by Jean Simmons as Desirée Clary in Desirée, 1954

You didn’t think I would stop at just one post about these incredible costumes did you? I spent a long time trawling through the catalogue last week picking out my favourite costumes, and there was way too much goodness to fit into just one post; or indeed two (I’ll show you the last round next week).

It does make me wish that I’d been able to see some of the older films in colour. When you see the vibrant tones of some of these costumes, it seems such a waste that they were only ever seen in black and white. I am still hoping some zillionaire will come along and buy the entire collection to set up a Hollywood museum. Perhaps they will ask me to be curator! (If I am making crazy wishes I may as well go the whole hog).
